Google will stop restricting competition in connection with Google Automotive Services and Google Maps Platform
Bundeskartellamt, here.
B7-25/22 Google Maps Platform here.
B7-25/22 Google Automotive Services here.
"The commitments impose on Google further obligations within the meaning of Article 1(6)
sentence 2(b) DMA, as they either concern Google services which are not listed in the
European Commission’s decision of 5 September 2023 as core platform services repre-
senting an important gateway for business users to reach end users, or as they concern
Google Maps or Google Play but represent further obligations with regard to Google Maps
and Google Play compared with those currently applicable to Google under the DMA"

Stigler Conference 2025
Livestream here.
Program here.
For memory, Bluesky Thread:
I PANEL Media Concentration, Ownership, and Regulation
Heard that @thierrybreton.bsky.social will be a keynote speaker, curious to hear what he'll have to say
Just heard that @thierrybreton.bsky.social cancelled!
First disclosure: "100% of my salary has been paid by Jeff Bezos"
I love history beyond anything else, but struggle to see how this is a useful framing so far TBH.
Dear @alexandrageese.bsky.social , you rock! Censorship imposed by the US after WWII because of the nazification - correct decision - than media system gifted by the US as well - not perfect, bt worked nicely!
·
50m[Proud to be paying your salary, @alexandrageese.bsky.social ]
Elon Musk suppressing freedom of speech à gogo - what is the @stiglercenter.bsky.social still doing there?
'Relationship of President Trump with President Putin' - I hope you have a diplomatic passport, @alexandrageese.bsky.social
"Elon Musk pushing heavily far-right content" - what about DSA access to the data?
Trump, TikTok and China tariffs: good luck making sense of it!
Policy proposals, a 📒from @alexandrageese.bsky.social:
- not taking down content (we don't do that in the EU), but creating transparency around the algorithms;
- if algorithms create systemic risks for democracy: ❌
- full transparency for GenAI;
- profiling and the data collection: ❌
Doing your own research is good (agree), but what about the content that you find on social media etc.? Well, I agree that many people of my generation and even younger discovered the Internet because of Facebbok (🙈) and were not taught anything better...
II PANEL Musk, China, Economic Power, and Influence Across Borders
Second panel, and freedom of speech. Yeah...By the way, I got censored by ChatGPT a lot, as of late - this 👇 "escaped" censorship, just about
"Embrace this opportunity" to fight for democracy, says Barry Lynn, we have many friends in MAGA too - élite people, technocrats...speak the f* up!
TBH, just holding this conference in the US at this moment in time is *brave* 👏 - "strong level of state support for Tesla" in China
Wong has a real talent for scaring the life out of all of us.
Prof. Rolnik is tackling a very serious issue of fake videos that’s putting his reputation on the line - Meta doesn't care, of course
Pending action in the EU against Musk, this is the article Barry Lynn just mentioned www.nytimes.com/2025/04/03/t... I think
Keynote Speech
[I was at a conference in Chicago once, and all the people serving food were Black, while the attendees were all white. I felt like I’d stepped into Gone with the Wind!]

Already second time that we hear from the organizers that Breton cancelled but that we're very lucky because we have a much better keynote speaker - why didn't you invite him as your first choice the 🤔?
Democratic backsliding is slow - all like frogs in the US at the moment.
I could really use some uplifting examples of democracy right now. Switzerland, maybe?
"A network of institution" fourth branch - souds like EU bureaucracy!
Data portability + horizontal interoperability 👉 "digital freedom of assembly" - also beyond the DMA
Eleanor Fox: Antitrust v. First Amendment in the Musk v. advertisers case - but deciding not to advertise on a Nazi Platform could also be also a manifestation of freedom of expression 🤔
